Manitoba 150 Trails

In partnership with

In the early winter months of 2020, Manitobans were able to explore the Manitoba 150 Trails at The Forks in downtown Winnipeg.

Double the length of 2019’s on-land skating trails, the Manitoba 150 Trails extended over 1.5 kilometres and offered a variety of outdoor activities including sledding, hockey, and crokicurling. It also showcased some of the world’s most innovative architecture from the winners of the Warming Huts competition.

As an additional celebration of winter fun and revelry, The Ice Chute – conceived, designed, and created by Manitoba firm Sputnik Architecture – was sculpted at the south end of The Forks. Made of ice blocks harvested from Fort Whyte Alive, this exhilarating toboggan slide offered a speedy 250-foot run down to the Assiniboine River.
